How Do I Join?

What it takes to be a member!

Unlike other flying clubs and unlike flight schools, we operate a little different. This is for the benefit of the members and helps keep the costs of renting low. If you have a question about ANYTHING, a phone call or an email is all it takes!

Membership Fee

A one time fee of $250 joins you as a lifetime member of Columbia Flying Club and gives you access to fly club aircraft.

Monthly Fees

A monthly fee of $25 maintains your status as an active club member. You need to be a current club member to rent or fly Columbia Flying Club Aircraft. You may cancel your membership at anytime. If you choose to cancel your monthly membership, you may re-join at any time for no  additional cost. If your aircraft is undergoing maintenance for more than half of the month, your monthly fee is credited to your account. You don't pay if the airplane is out of service for maintenance! Other flying clubs don't offer that deal!

Insurance Requirements

It is the responsibility of the club member to procure their own aircraft insurance policy with a minimum liability coverage and minimum hull coverage. Other requirements include a provision for your instructor. Call us to discuss insurance.

For Non-Pilots

If you're not sure what any of this means, and you're interested in taking your first lessons, call us and we cant discuss the details of what it takes to fly. Its not that hard, so don't be afraid, we can help make it easy!

Fill out the Application & Paperwork

In the documents page, all of the documents that need to be filled out are posted so you can review and prepare them at your convenience. You don't have to do them ahead of time,  you can do them on your first visit.  Your Instructor or Dispatcher will help you out!

Complete the Orientation

Once you have completed the application, one of our instructors will sit down with you and give you the orientation on club policies & procedures.

Complete the Aircraft Type Checkout

The final step is to complete the aircraft type checkout with a CFC instructor. This includes a review of aircraft specific systems and details and a flight to evaluate the applicants ability. Once the instructor determines the applicant possesses adequate knowledge, skill and ability the applicant will now be free to schedule and rent a CFC aircraft.
